Construction Trades - Electrical Installation
On the Electrical Installation course, you will learn how to install and test a range of electrical installations including lighting, power and control circuits. This practical, hands-on Programme will allow you to develop skills in the installation of cables and cable management systems. You will learn in our state-of-the art Automotive, Construction and Engineering Centre. This has a well-equipped electrical workshop as well as high-quality learning environments, where you will develop your skills and technical knowledge.

Level 3
There are many types of electrical work, including domestic, commercial and industrial installations. Employment could involve installing electrical systems in new buildings, on construction sites or in existing premises. You will also learn the underpinning knowledge of electro-technology, which will allow you to understand the operation of a range of electrical equipment, plus how to install and test a range of electrical installations including lighting, power and control circuits.
Level 1 – You will require GCSEs grades 1/2 or equivalent, including Foundation Awards and Entry Level Certificates.
Level 2 – You will require a minimum of 4 GCSEs grade 2/3 or above including Maths and English.
Level 3 – Successful completion of a Level 2 within the same subject area and minimum 4 GCSEs grade 4 and above including English and Maths.
ENGLISH & MATHS
If you haven’t achieved a GCSE Grade 4 (C) in English and/or Maths, you will be required to either; take a Functional Skills qualification if you have achieved a Grade 1 or 2, or retake the GCSE if you’ve achieved Grade 3. You will be fully supported by our specialist team.
At level 2 and above you are required to complete a work placement. This will be an external work placement within your industry of study.
As part of the study Programme, learners will have the opportunity to visit relevant work environments and/or manufacturers to gain an understanding of the processes of the industry. Parental/guardian permission for trip is essential and will be sought at the beginning of the course to prevent delays or disappointment.
During your course, we ensure you develop employability skills and gain the relevant experience for your next steps. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into further study. When applying for university, we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance. Once you’ve completed a Level 3 qualification, you could progress into employment or further your studies with a degree-level qualification.
